Built for bulls that have outgrown the standard top strap

Large, mature bulls put more demands on containment gear than any other animal in the herd. They're bigger, stronger and more physical in their behaviour. They have heavier muscling, thicker coats, and can develop a neck that is wider than their own head. So, while the standard top strap suits most cattle, some larger bulls need a different fit.

The Bull Top Strap has been purpose-built for large, mature bulls that have outgrown the standard top strap. By providing a better fit for larger necks, it helps maintain the comfort, containment performance and GPS accuracy that underpin effective virtual fencing with eShepherd.

Instead of asking a bull's anatomy to fit the equipment, we shaped the equipment to fit the animal. In practice, that means:

  • The reshaped design follows the contour of a bull's neck more closely, helping the strap sit correctly down either side of the neck.
  • The chain stays where it's designed to sit
  • The neckband remains comfortable and secure on large, mature bulls

Bulls aren't just bigger cattle

If a bull's neck is noticeably wider than its head, or the standard top strap appears to be reaching its adjustment limits, it may be time to make the switch to the Bull Top Strap. A liveweight of around 500kg is a useful guide, but it's not a strict rule. Neck size and shape are the most important factors.

The Bull Top Strap fits onto the existing eShepherd neckband platform, purpose-built for grazing systems and proven across a wide range of cattle operations.

  • Reliable containment without overtight fitting. eShepherd uses a chain electrode positioned under the chin. The weight of the unit helps maintain skin contact naturally, supporting reliable signal delivery while prioritising animal comfort. A poor fit isn't just uncomfortable. It can increase the risk of chafing and pressure points, making correct fit important for both animal welfare and containment performance.
  • Tough enough for bull behaviour. From rubbing and sparring to everyday wear and tear, the neckband is built to withstand the more physical demands bulls place on equipment.
  • Lightweight and comfortable. At approximately 2.5kg, the neckband is designed so cattle can quickly become accustomed to wearing it as part of their normal routine.
  • Built for real-world conditions. Large solar panels help keep the battery charged, allowing the neckband to continue operating through extended periods of low light and challenging weather conditions.
